Author Guidelines

Research & Management Journal, an open access scientific journal  publication of the School of Business Administration at San Ignacio de Loyola University, is a peer-reviewed journal aimed at providing a diverse forum for the dissemination of knowledge generated through research. It prioritizes diversity in topics, disciplinary approaches, theoretical perspectives, and methodological proposals in the field of Administration. It is targeted at researchers, educators, and university students in general.

Research & Management Journal is a bilingual journal in Spanish and English for all its articles. Launched in 2024, it maintains a biannual publication schedule (2 issues per year); that is, it publishes two issues each year, the first between January-June and the second between July-December.

Submission Considerations

Manuscripts should be original and unpublished, not under review by other journals. The content of all manuscripts is the sole responsibility of the authors.

Manuscripts should be submitted electronically through the journal's platform, which allows tracking the manuscript's status.

In addition to the original version of the manuscript, authors should include a statement of originality and a brief curriculum vitae indicating institutional affiliation and email addresses.

Authors should designate a corresponding author, who may not necessarily be the lead author, with whom the Editor will maintain constant communication throughout the review and publication process.

The Research & Management Journal aims to achieve greater internationalization and impact for its publications; therefore, the journal will publish its papers in both Spanish and English. We would like to inform you that during the evaluation process, we will accept manuscripts written in either English or Spanish. However, authors must commit to providing a final version of the work in the language not initially used, should the manuscript be ultimately accepted for publication.

Publication Sections

Submitted works can belong to one of the two sections described below:

- Research Articles: Empirical contributions with theoretical underpinnings, detailed presentations of original research projects' results, and analytical reports on interventions through evaluation, experience systematization, or case studies, referencing other interventions and conceptual debate. The text should be no longer than 25 pages or less than 15 pages (including references and annexes). Research articles should include the following sections: (i) introduction, (ii) methodology, (iii) results, (iv) discussion, and (v) references.

- Review Articles: Analyses, systematization, and integration of results from published or unpublished research on a specific field, topic, or problem to establish the current state of knowledge. They should include a relevant and up-to-date bibliography. The text should be no longer than 30 pages or less than 10 pages. Review articles should include the following sections: (i) introduction, (ii) argumentation, (iii) conclusions, and (iv) references.

  1. The text should be in A4 format, one and a half line spacing, in Word, with Arial font size 11. Set margins to 3 cm on all sides, with a vertical layout.

  2. The authors' names (first name + initials of the following names + last name) should appear after the title, along with institutional affiliation. Use superscript numbering leading to a footnote, which should include information about the authors' academic background and/or specialty, position, and email address.

  3. Provide two abstracts for the article, one in Spanish and the other in English (summary), with a length of 150 to 250 words each. Include 3 to 5 keywords in both Spanish and English at the bottom of each abstract. The abstracts should be written in a single paragraph, without separate sentences.

  4. If applicable, acknowledgments and information regarding academic and financial assistance received for the article's development should be included in a second footnote.

  5. Use the five levels of headings corresponding to APA style in its Seventh Edition, as shown in the following table:

Levels*

Headings

1

Centered, Boldface, Uppercase, and Lowercase Heading.

2

Left-aligned, Boldface, Uppercase, and Lowercase Heading.

3

Left-aligned, Boldface, Indented, Uppercase, and Lowercase Heading.

4

Left-aligned, Italicized, Indented, Uppercase, and Lowercase Heading.

5

Left-aligned, Italicized, Indented, Uppercase, Lowercase Heading, and Ending with a Period.

  1. Footnotes should be kept to a minimum and serve explanatory purposes rather than presenting a bibliography.

  2. Numbers should be written out in words up to nine and in numerals from 10 onwards. Exceptions include numbers in tables or figures, years, ages, weights, measurements, percentages, numbers with decimals, etc., which should always be in numerals.

  3. Tables and figures should be preferably original. If they are taken from other sources, the origin should be clearly indicated, and explicit permission for publication should be obtained. Insert tables and figures immediately after referring to them. Titles should clearly explain their meaning. Use APA style with titles and sequential numbering.

Example of a figure:

  1. Citations should follow the APA editorial style in its seventh edition. Below are three common citation forms:

- Carrasco (2007), in a multilevel study (student, classroom, school) using a segment of the PISA 2000 database, found that...

- The study found that, among the determinants of performance in reading comprehension, the variables that seem to be most influential are the proportion of non-repeating students in the school and attendance in early education (Beltrán & Seinfeld, 2011).

- It can be argued that "the results of national and international assessments show that the majority of the student population in our country, and in its Latin American counterparts, does not reach the required standards in basic learning competencies" (Miranda, 2008, p. 11).

Other possible citation forms (e.g., institution as author or electronic book) should follow the same standard.

  1. References should also follow the APA editorial style in its seventh edition in English (Publication Manual, 2019).

Since the journal is bilingual, if the manuscript is accepted, authors commit to translating it into the missing language, either English or Spanish. Please write your text in good Spanish or English (American or British usage is accepted, but not a mixture of these).
