Peer Review Process
The journal uses the double-blind peer review were reviewers are unaware of the identity of the authors, and authors are also unaware of the identity of reviewers.
There are at least two or more reviewers for each one manuscript evaluated, and between five to ten reviewers for total number of articles in each issue.
Peer review system is used as a quality assurance mechanism for published articles, according to the standard assumed by journal.
Peer reviewers are mostly academics and researchers outside institution publisher, with recognized prestige in their field at the national and international level.
For manuscript evaluation will be assigned articles according to topics and research specialties of reviewer, fulfilling their function in total anonymity. The mechanism also provides for anonymity to authors being evaluated.
The general procedure is as follows:
- All articles received initially will be read by Editor and by a member of Editorial Board as a pre-sentence. If the contents have the quality characteristics required by the journal, they will be forwarded to Deputy Editor for delivery to appointed referees.
- For each article, two referees will be appointed by subject and specialty.
- For the evaluation and judgement of each manuscript, peer-reviewers will use a judgement guide that includes the prioritized criteria and the corresponding scores.
- The result of the arbitration may be:
Without modifications or with minor modifications.
Subject to review and resubmission within 30 days.
- When the rulings are not coincident, the procedure will be:
Between 1-2 it will be worth 2 and it will be asked to incorporate the proposed modifications.
Between 1-3, the participation of a third arbitrator is required, in the case of a member of the Editorial Board. With three arbitrators, the ruling is assumed to be the same and the different ruling will be discarded.
Between 2-3 it will be worth 3 and the article will be rejected.
- For articles that require modifications, once the authors return the corrected version, it will be sent to the arbitrator who gave the most unfavorable opinion to verify the lifting of the observations and approve the publication. At this stage, the arbitrator may not request additional modifications to those appearing in the ruling.
For development of their peer review work, peer reviewer will receive a version of the article to be evaluated, the instructions given to the authors and the reviewers evaluation sheet to be used. The Editor maintains contact with the referees and update register of accepted and rejected articles in online system, together with opinions that must be sent to the Editorial Board.
